About Me
A little about me...
(Actually a lot)
Charlotte Bard is an artist studying in Birmingham and based in London. Her work combines commercial advertisement photography and ironic humour which she believes to be funny.

As a commercial photographer, Charlotte likes to pay attention to detail, composition and colouring by learning how to not only set up a studio for the best outcomes but understanding the skills, precision and time that goes into product photography to ensure that her work resembles real advertisement you’d see on websites or billboards.

She uses humour within her work to engage her audience. She knows that the younger generation will be able to relate and understand the humour used within her work, meaning her work will resonate with them making her stand out amongst other photographers, meaning her practice is unique. She is inspired by companies such as McDonalds who are notoriously known for their targeted wordplay.

For this module Charlotte has played with the idea that her generation, Gen Z, are fast to believe anything they see online just because it comes from a ‘trustworthy’ source. But after some research she found that even big companies put out fake advertisement which they know younger people will see and spread the misinformation. Meaning the company gain engagement. Charlotte was then able to look at these companies’ false advertisement and learn what makes them so engaging and appealing to then translate into her own work.

Charlotte has taken the time to read and research the real issue behind her photos and has attached a link to another website stating the real issues and problems. She hopes this will show people how easy it is for fake news to be put online and that people will take the time to read into the real issues being highlighted.
